WIN gateway stops on Teltonika routers
Teltonika routers have an undesired “feature” in them that can halt all communication from a WIN gateway in certain situations.
If the WIN gateway communicates frequently with the Teltonika router (i.e. with less than 5 minutes between posts) there is no problem, but when the time between posts is longer than 5 minutes then Teltonika router ignores the WIN gateway.
To create a work around the WIN gateway has a feature added called Periodic Ping Reset where the WIN gateway pings the router i.e. the IP defined as the network gateway in the network settings every minute and if it fails to get a reply 3 times in a row, it restarts the WIN gateway. As the PING is only local on LAN, between the WIN gateway and the Teltonika router, there is no additional mobile traffic due to this feature being activated. The Periodic Ping Reset is turned on by default but can be turned off in case the WIN gateway is installed in a customer’s network and customer IT representative doesn’t want any additional traffic in their network.
