Migration Tool
To migrate S2 radio network from Boomerang 2 to Boomerang 3 you may use S2 Gateway Migration Tool. The tool enable transfer of all the radio network settings from B2 to B3 system.
The tool works only with the newest B2 database version used by B2 v.2.4.18.026 or newer. Therefore all the older database versions must be updated to the newest version before using the tool.
The current version of the tool can be found in S2 Gateway Tools. (https://icuscandinavia060.sharepoint.com/:f:/r/sites/Technicalfile/Shared%20Documents/S2%20GateWay/Tools?csf=1&web=1&e=kAM4Xb) .
To migrate the settings perform the following steps:
Unzip the tool files to a separate directory.

Double click S2GatewayMigration.exe. The tool GUI is opened. Click “Help” to open short instruction. The console window on the bottom displays events log.

Press 'Read B2 database' button and select location of Boomerang 2 installation. Select the directory where there is DatabaseConfig.xml file (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\ICU\Boomerang V2.4.18.028). This file contains the user and password used by the tool to connect to SQL database. You may also use your own credentials as described in Using migration tool with own SQL credentials.

The application will read data from B2 database and create JSON file with S2 radio networks configuration.

Use “Select PC node to export” to select PC node and radio network that will be exported and used to create uninstalled S2 gateway definition in B3. You may select “ALL” to export all radio networks or export them one at a time.

The definition of gateway (in JSON format) can be displayed in separate window. Use “Display JSON” button to view and edit definition if needed.

The tool always assigns consecutive MAC addresses to PC nodes starting with 11:11:11:11:11:01.
This MAC address shall be then replaced with the S2GW MAC address.
If you want to edit the file, select the PC node you want to edit first, click “Display JSON”, edit file, close the “View JSON” window, confirm you want to save the changed text and then click “Export PC Node to B3”. Do not select PC node before the export because the file will be overwritten with the values imported from B2 and you will lose your changes.
Be careful NOT to break JSON structure or mismatch measuring points’ parameters!
Enter address of Boomerang 3 server. Enter only host address e.g., https:\boomerangtest.com. The application supports both http and https servers.
Enter user and password which are required for import data into B3 system. This must be a user with administrator privileges because he must be able to create infrastructure items.

Click 'Export PC node to B3' button. The application will send the selected definition to the B3 server.

B3 will add new S2 gateway to the uninstalled gateways list.

Click blue + icon to define the gateway organisation details.

Select the system group, division and group and click “Save”.
The gateway will be added to the organisation.

In Migrate Tool click 'Import PC node to B3' button again to import the measuring points. The application will send the selected definition to the B3 server. Console window below will display log and errors if they occur. The log will inform about the number of MPs created. Examples: MacAddress: 11:11:11:11:11:01 Sensor existing: 0 Created: 8 means 8 MPs were created for the given MAC address. MacAddress: 11:11:11:11:11:01 Sensor existing: 8 Created: 0 means 8 MPs already exist and were not created for the given MAC address. This will happen if you try to export the same MPs for the second time.

In B3 go to Infrastructure – Uninstalled Measuring Points.
Select the system group where the imported gateway was added. The imported MPs shall be displayed there.

Install the uninstalled MPs in the system.
Connect the S2 PC node used by the migrated network to an S2GW gateway,
In B3 change the MAC address for the imported S2 gateway to the S2GW MAC address.
The S2 MPs shall start sending data.
