# Terminal connection

It is possible to connect to Linux OS running on S2GW using a terminal connection.

This terminal connection can be used to modify the hardware or software settings, check the logs etc. These modifications can be done remotely, if you connect to the network via Remote Desktop or Teamviewer.

Please note that Linux interprets small and capital letters as different characters so it is important to use a correct case in commands.

You have to know the unit IP address to use this method. The methods to find it are described in [Find S2GW IP address](/s2gw-installation-manual/advanced_use/find_s2gw_ip_address.md).

The method to connect is described in [Putty](/tools-for-sbc-products/console-access/putty.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.boomerang3.com/s2gw-installation-manual/advanced_use/terminal_connection.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
