# S3 node version

S3 is a version of S2 node that which is used to connect the sensor directly to a PC over the RS232 port.

It is a single node with a sensor that is connected to the PC serial port. From the monitoring system point of view it behaves as an S2 PC node communicating with a single S2 measuring node which have a sensor or sensors connected to it. It is possible to connect only one S3 node to a single serial port.

There are S3 versions of many node types listed in [S2 node types](/s2-radio-system-manual/s2-system-description/s2-node/s2-node-types.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.boomerang3.com/s2-radio-system-manual/s2-system-description/s2-node/s3-node-version.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
