System structure

The Boomerang 3 system has 2 hierarchical structures.

Organisation

The first one is organisation with system groups on top, divisions in the middle, groups and optionally subgroups on the bottom.

The access to different levels of the organisation structure depends on the user rights e.g. a normal user will only see groups and subgroups.

Infrastructure

The second is infrastructure that consists of hardware and software blocks that deliver the measurements and are used to dispatch the alarms. The infrastructure items are objects, gateways, measuring points, measuring ranges and relay boxes. The Infrastructure belongs to Admin which is visible only to administrators.

Objects

Groups and subgroups contain regular, transport, technical and function objects which connect both structures.

Points

The objects have measuring, transport, technical and control points assigned to them.

The structures are defined by the Boomerang administrator. The definition reflects the organization and designations of the measurement and control points.

The system structure is shown in the overview part of the Dashboard.

In this view a user sees highest-level items he has access to, so the system administrator will see system groups while a normal user only lower-level groups he belongs to.

Click the icon of an item to unfold the structure below.

In the example below the S1 system contains 2 divisions, S1D1 and S1D2. The S1D1 division was unfolded, and it contains 2 root groups, S1D1G1 and S1D1G2.

Click the group to unfold it. A group may contain subgroups and objects with their measuring points.

The S1D1G1 group contains S1D1O1 object, for which its first 3 MPs are shown below. The list of objects and sensors in this group is longer and the screenshot presents only the top part.

The S3 system contains 1 division, S3 D1. It contains 1 group, S3D1 G1, which has 2 subgroups, S3D1G1G1 and S3D1G1G2. There is also S3D1O3 object, which has no MPs.

Root groups and subgroups

The top-level groups are called root groups and are marked with green group icons. The lower-level groups are marked with blue group icons.
